Sultanahmet Mosque
Sultanahmet Camii (The Blue Mosque) is one of the most important mosques of Istanbul and it should probably be the first place you should visit in Istanbul. Built during the period of Ottoman Sultan Ahmed the first, it is the only mosque in Turkey which has 6 minarets.
Hagia Sophia / Aya Sofya
Located just across the Blue Mosque. In the Byzantine times, it was used for the coronations of the Byzantine Emperors, but after the conquest of Istanbul, it was converted into a mosque. Today, it is used as both a museum and a mosque.
